THE SOUND OF MUSIC—FALL 2025
Most recently, I had the incredible honor of playing Maria in The Sound of Music—a role that has truly left a lasting imprint on my heart. Portraying Maria was the most rewarding theatrical experience I’ve ever had. The bond she shares with the children naturally came to life between me and my castmates, making each rehearsal feel more like a family gathering than a performance. The relationships we built backstage mirrored those onstage, and the children genuinely felt like siblings by the end.
I poured my heart into this role, wanting to do it justice and pay tribute to the beautiful portrayal Julie Andrews gave us all. Though memorizing everything this role demanded was no small feat, Maria was also the easiest character for me to feel. I relate to her in so many ways—her joy, her boldness, her deep love for others (minus the whole becoming-a-nun part!). Funny enough, this marks my second show in a row playing a postulant... maybe I’m officially typecast!
I couldn’t have done this without the support of my incredible community. From friends coming over weekly to run lines, to my voice lessons, to my sweet husband Ryan holding everything together at home while I gave this role my all—every bit of love and support carried me through.
Maria taught me so much. She’s a character I’ll never forget and someone I hope to embody more in my own life: spirited, compassionate, and full of courage.
She’ll always have a place in my heart.
Descendants the Musical—SUMMER 2024
After the joy of performing in Sister Act, I had the opportunity to return to the stage—this time behind the scenes—as the Assistant Vocal Director for Descendants: The Musical. I worked closely with the leads and supporting characters, guiding them through harmonies, solo work, and ensemble numbers. It was incredibly rewarding to help so many young performers grow, each bringing their own unique musical background to the table. Watching their confidence and skill bloom during rehearsals was such a gift!
Sister Act The musical—FALL 2024
This spring of 2024, I had the incredible privilege of playing Sister Mary Robert, a beloved character from the movie Sister Act. After moving to Palestine, Texas, I found myself longing for a musical outlet. I prayed for God to guide me back to my purpose, and thought, 'Perhaps this small town has a theatre program I can join.' So, I turned to Google and discovered the Palestine Texas Theatre was holding auditions for Sister Act the musical just two days later.
Though I was unfamiliar with the movie or musical at the time, I researched the characters and felt a deep connection with Sister Mary Robert. When my husband came home, I told him, 'Sweetheart, I'm going to audition for a musical.' He knew this was what I needed and supported me wholeheartedly.
Throughout the show, I met wonderful people and found new opportunities that have transformed my life. My husband Ryan was my constant supporter, listening to me practice time and time again with unwavering patience and care. My experience taught me that no matter where you live, there is always room for music, even if you have to carve out the space yourself.
